Los estudiantes de Inglés de Acceso a Grado Superior (AGS) deben superar una prueba de nivel para poder acceder a la universidad. Esta prueba, conocida como Selectividad, se divide en dos partes: la Prueba de Expresión y Comunicación Escrita (PECE) y la Prueba de Expresión y Comunicación Oral (PECO).

La PECE se divide a su vez en tres partes. En la primera, los estudiantes deben responder a una serie de preguntas de comprensión lectora sobre un texto en inglés. I’m sure you’ve all heard of the saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. Well, in many cases, this is excellent advice. We often make assumptions about people based on their appearance, and more often than not, these assumptions are wrong. For example, we might see someone who is well-dressed and think that they are wealthy, when in reality, they could be in debt. Or we might see someone who is unkempt and think that they are lazy, when in fact, they could be working two jobs to support their family.

Assuming things about people based on their looks is not only unfair, it can also be harmful. If we automatically assume that someone is intelligent based on their appearance, we might not bother to get to know them or have a conversation with them, and we would be missing out on a potential friend. If we assume that someone is lazy because they don’t dress well, we might not give them a chance to prove themselves. In both of these cases, we would be doing a disservice to ourselves and to the other person.

So, next time you see someone who doesn’t look like you, don’t make assumptions about them. Get to know them as a person, and you might be pleasantly surprised.
