El Pasado Simple se forma con el infinitivo sin «to» de la raíz del verbo (por ejemplo, work – trabajar) y agregando la terminación -ed a todos los verbos regulares. Los verbos irregulares forman el Pasado Simple de manera diferente y deben memorizarse.
Ejemplos:
- I worked in a bank. – Yo trabajé en un banco.
- She walked to school. – Ella fue caminando a la escuela.
- They arrived at 3 p.m. – Llegaron a las 15:00.
La forma negativa se construye usando did not (didn’t) + infinitivo sin «to».
Ejemplos:
- I did not work in a bank. – Yo no trabajé en un banco.
- She did not walk to school. – Ella no fue caminando a la escuela.
- They did not arrive at 3 p.m. – No llegaron a las 15:00.
La forma interrogativa se construye usando did + sujeto + infinitivo sin «to».
Ejemplos:
- Did I work in a bank? – ¿Yo trabajé en un banco?
- Did she walk to school? – ¿Ella fue caminando a la escuela?
- Did they arriv at 3 p.m.? – ¿Llegaron ellos a las 15:00?
